Ice Bergs or art...
On our last day in Greenland, the rest of the team had already left and there was only the mountain guides, expedition leader, a photographer and myself. We (the other photographer) and myself decided we wanted one last visit to shoot the icebergs, but all our modes of transport had gone. So we found a local fisherman willing to take us out for a fee. It was the funniest experience as he had recently come in with his catch and there was blood floating everywhere and the boat stank. He was smoking a cigarette and had no fear of the big waves. There was nowhere to put our camera bags, so we had to lay them on the floor with all of the smelly fish blood. The boat was tiny and just fit the three of us. We headed out into the ocean amongst the immense icebergs, bouncing everywhere on the waves, trying to balance and get the shot without being thrown overboard into the freezing ocean. It was a lot of fun and we got a lot of great shots. Unfortunately for the other photographer, he was staying on in Greenland for another big photoshoot with a well known brand and I’m pretty certain he would have picked up an interesting scent. Luckily I was on a flight back the next day and my camera bag was put in the hold far from me and other passengers.
