Aiguilles Dorées from Vichères
The Aiguilles Dorées are normally seen from Chamonix or the Saleina Glacier side.
From Vichères, however looking across from here, everything looks huge and open, giving the ridge a sculptural, three-dimensional presence.
On winter mornings like this, when fresh snow clings only to selective faces and shadows carve deep lines, the entire massif looks like a natural cathedral, vertical, intricate, incredibly detailed.
It’s so difficult to show the sense of scale in a photograph. Being there and witnessing it firsthand is so special is so special and I never take it for granted!
