The Grand Combin, the ice coverd giant
The Grand Combin (4,314 m) is one of the great ice-covered giants of the Pennine Alps, a vast multi-summited massif rising above the Val de Bagnes. It is also the most recognisable from Verbier. Its broad dome and deep, fractured glaciers create a balance of power and elegance, with Combin de Grafeneire, Combin de Valsorey and Combin de la Tsessette forming its distinctive skyline. Seen above a shifting layer of cloud, the mountain often feels detached from the world below, a quiet, sculpted fortress of snow and light, and one of the most defining landmarks of the region.
