The Sustainability Dialogues

I am always excited and proud of the ideas and projects from my friends Xavier & Beanie de le Rue. And this one in particular is a fantastic move forward in the current climate. The Sustainability Dialogues are a series of podcasts hosted by Xavier and produced by Beanie. Looking at the current climate crisis. Xavier says that in the past he always felt too guilty to discuss the climate crisis -  as someone who has taken so many international flights, helicopters to access lines, promoting of consumption, so he didn’t think he was the right person to speak up. 

But on listening to Dr. Johan Rockstrom at the Greening Verbier event last year Xavier changed his mind saying no-one had inspired him to make a change more than Johan, but not only that, to feel capable of actually making a difference on a global scale with his actions. And he hopes that this podcast will inspire the same in anyone who listens to the podcast. 

Johan and Xavier shared a weekend riding together in Verbier, before discussing the climate crisis at length, focusing in on those questions that he find himself talking with friends about, but which none of us truly know the answer to! They discussed the overall climate crisis, glaciers, electric cars, air travel, veganism, populism, war…talking about the climate will lead you down every road! 

Most importantly Xavier hopes that you will come away from listening to these podcasts as inspired as he was in talking to Johan, feeling positive and empowered, rather than the usual state of overwhelmed and guilty. Johan is all about the solutions - and solutions there are. 

I was fortunate to get play my part in shooting Johan and Xavier on the mountain. An incredible experience to get to ride the mountain with one of the most respected climate scientists in the world and one of the most recognised and inspiring snowboarders (and a whole lot more) in the world. Plus lets not forget Beanie who produces Xavier’s content and mans the ship. And of course environmental lawyer Johanna Bernstein who supported with her research and introduction to Johan.
