Mont Fort Sunrise

It is worth the 4am wake up for this! No wind, so still and calm. A feeling of summer stillness you only get at altitude.

The light came slowly. First a faint blue, then a soft pink tint across the glacier. It only lasted a few minutes. The snow and ice caught the colour before the rock did, and for that short window the whole massif felt calmer, warmer and gentle.

By the time the sun properly rose, the pink had gone and the mountains were back to their usual sharp contrast. This image holds that one quiet, special moment in between.
